Opening sequence of Legally Blonde analysis!!! (:

The opening sequence of Legally Blonde starts with introducing the production company which is ‘Metro Goldwyn Mayer’ and this can suggest that it's going to be a good movie because it's a well known company. Then a black out appears with the music starting when it comes to color and with the titles, the background is out of focus this can be because the producer wants the audience to concentrate on the titles or to introduce the movie to the audience gently . The titles are in pink and in cursive hand writing this can show that the audience is a girl’s only movie and that it’s light hearted and fun to watch. Also the colours used are very attractive and feminine making the movie fun to watch.

In the background the protagonist which is Elle Woods (Reese Withspoon) is brushing her hair then the camera cuts into another scene with a another character cycling and has an envelope with Elle’s name on and the camera shot is high angle which makes the envelope seem that it has something very important in it and that its for Elle then it cuts back to Elle brushing her hair this makes the audience ask themselves questions and this is called enigma and trying to link the two scenes together (of course the audience still don’t know who is she). This creates tension and suspend in the audience making them want to continue watching the movie.

Then the camera tracks and pans the girl who is cycling through the campus to show and set the place. This can suggest that the director wants the audience to imagine and acknowledge the place/scene. Then the camera cuts to an extreme close up of the girl and then cuts back to the main protagist wearing her necklace suggesting that she is fashionable then it cuts back to the girl cycling and then the camera moves to the name of the place which is ‘Delta Nu’which is the name of the campus/place. Then an extreme close up of the protagists hand with a nail polish next to it then the camera moves up showing a sign with Elle Woods name and she is president of Delta Nu makes the audience realize that the letter is for her and that she is a important person in this place.  Then it cuts back to the girl delivering the letter to the house and another girl comes and takes the letter then the camera tracks her through the house and some of the girls sign the card.

Then it cuts back to the main protagist’s accessories showing what type of girl she is and making the audience want to meet her then it cuts back to the girl delivering the letter then it cuts back to the main protagist wearing her shoes then it cuts back to the girl delivering the card making the audience create more tension and more questions until she reached Elle’s room and then her dog takes the letter and gives it to her with a voice over of her talking on the phone. Then we are introduced to the main protagist and the storyline. This all creates tension and making the audience excited to meet her.

Sound Extract analyse!! - HW

The extract begins with the production company advertising its logo and it’s a well known company and that attracts the audience attention and making them eager to see the movie because of its reputation. It starts with the drums drumming and trumpets. This suggests authority or can be military because of the instruments played and attracts the audience’s attention because the music is catchy and it suggests that the show/movie will begin.
After this effect, the music slows down and becomes dark, menacing and you can imagine yourself in an industry and then as if the doors open and the music becomes racy, pacy and flighty which means that the camera is exploring the huge, strange, scary place and that makes the audience excited and interested.
Towards the end the music becomes stirring which suggests that the emotions/tension is rising between the movie and the audience. After that effect, it then becomes angelic, opera and orchestral music which suggests that the camera can be in a church or happy ending or sense of achievement and relief. At the very end the person opens a bottle and throws the lid and you can hear machinery in the background.
Furthermore, the music throughout the extract is in scale and rolling, making the audience interested and as if there is a challenge to overcome – making the audience excited , interested  and a bit nervous. The music also suggests the genre of the movie which can be science fiction or horror and action because of the music. The music is quite dramatic.
